  • Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Department

  • Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Department is dedicated to ensuring the safe surgical treatment and pain management of patients. All surgeries, excluding local anesthesia procedures, are performed under the supervision of specialists in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Emergency surgeries are also covered regardless of the time. The Pain Relief Center at BS General Hospital is currently implementing conservative treatment methods such as pain injection therapy before resorting to surgical interventions for spine and joint conditions, striving to break the cycle of pain that originates from various underlying conditions.

  • What does Pain Clinic do?

In cases of pain experienced in the spine or joints, various treatment options are available to address the pain. These treatments include medication therapy, physical therapy, trigger point injections, nerve treatments, sympathetic nerve treatments, exercise therapy, and spinal cord stimulation. These approaches aim to identify the specific nerve site where the pain originates, primarily in the spine or joints, and provide treatment using medications.

  • Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

ESWT is a non-surgical treatment method that uses shockwaves applied from outside the body to promote blood vessel reformation, activate surrounding tissues and bones, and reduce pain while improving function in the affected area. It is like how shockwaves are used to break down urinary stones. ESWT does not require hospitalization, eliminates the need for incisions as in surgery, reduces the risk of complications associated with anesthesia, and shortens the treatment period while minimizing medication-related complications.

  • Vertebroplasty

The Vertebroplasty involves direct injection of medication into the inflamed spinal region using a 2mm-diameter needle. This procedure helps relieve pain. A significant advantage of this method is that advanced imaging equipment is used, allowing for precise confirmation of the exact location where the medication is delivered.
